I haven't done a Top Ten meme in ages, but this one, for obvious reasons, I couldn't resist. Top Ten Tuesday is brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish, so head on over and see what childhood gems other folks list.

1. Harriet the Spy (Louise Fitzhugh)
2. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (C.S. Lewis)
3. A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine L'Engle)
4. Gone Away Lake (Elizabeth Enright)
5. The Saturdays (Elizabeth Enright)
6. Little Women (Louisa May Alcott)
7. The Secret Garden (Frances Hodgson Burnett)
8. A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett)
9. Charlotte's Web (E.B. White)
10. Pippi Longstocking (Astrid Lindgren)

What are your favorite kid reads?

  1. Oh my gosh! How could I forget the Saturdays. I devoured that book as a kid.

And ahhhh I loved Charlotte's Web too!

    What a wonderful list :-D

  2. I loved A Little Princess!! I've watched that movie many, many times in my life.

  3. Your list has a lot of books I missed as a kid and now have on my current to read list.

Bernard Waber had a book called NOBODY IS PERFICK that I used to read over and over. I also liked: IRMA AND JERRY and HARRY CAT’S PET PUPPY by George Selden; THE TEDDY BEAR HABIT by James Lincoln Collier; CLARENCE THE TV DOG by Patricia Lauber; and anything Beverly Cleary wrote.

  4. I loved all Alcotts books, but my favorite is Nancy Drew.

    Here's my post.

  5. We have one in common :)
Although I enjoyed Narnnia and Pippi Longstocking too.

  6. This is a great list. These are some of my favorite childhood books too.

  7. I loved The Secret Garden and A Little Princess; also the Witch of Blackbird Pond. Other favorites were by Sally Watson: Witch of the Glens, Highland Rebel, Jade, and Lark.
